
After you have created your box, click the red ball "Material Editor". Now click the 1.NEW button.

Now highlight Standard. click ok

Now give your material a name (This is what is shown in Previewer. Then click the + sign beside MAP.

Next, put a check beside Diffuse Color, then click the button NONE.

Now double click Bitmap. This will bring up the browse window to locate your texture. Locate your texture then click open".

Now that we have our texture loaded. First we need to turn it on in gmax. 1. Click the blue/white checkered box, 2. 2 sided. (If you want your textures to 2 sided click here, this will put a check by default in Previewer), 3. Color - This will put a check for affected by light in previwer. 4. You should have your texture loaded.

Now expand the editable mesh for lod0, and choose element. click the box in any of the viewports. Now click the down arrow in the modifier list, and choose UVW Mapping Look for the Parameters. For this model we will simply choose "BOX", Under that you will see LENGTH/WIDTH/HEIGHT. This is where the tiling is done. You can play with it if you like, but for this tutorial I am keeping the defaults. Now drag the material on the model. Next "RIGHT" click in the modifier list "LOD0" and choose Collapse all. A warning window will pop up, choose "YES/ALL".
